If you have a Centris or Quadra that is not an AV machine you have both of the following upgrade options:
1) PDS slot upgrade
Apple is offering a PDS slot upgrade card. For the Quadra 950, 900, 800, 700, 650, and 610 models, as well as the Macintosh Centris 650 and 610 computers. This has the advantage of being less expensive ($ 699) and still allowing you to run either as a Motorola 68040 (Quadra), or Motorola 601 (Power Mac) machine by just rebooting.
It makes use of you current machine’s on board memory; so it works out to be a pretty inexpensive way to try out the PowerMac software. It does not provide the full advantages like faster SCSI performance.

The logicboard upgrade has the advantage of providing faster on board video, two monitor support and a wider data bus than provided by the PDS card. In the future, Apple plans to provide upgrades for the Macintosh Quadra 605; LC 550, 575, and 520; and the Performa 550.
The PDS slot upgrade lets you try out the PowerMacintosh software while remaining able to run the 68040 type software.
